"Helping the youth of today's world become the brighter future of tomorrow."

We invite the people in our community to make a positive difference through volunteering, sponsorship, and mentoring.

LSY Instructors

LSY provides licensed instructors, certified by the Arkansas Department of Education, who are highly educated professionals providing comprehensive tutoring and appropriate homework assistance services to the LSY youth. The students are tutored through one-on-one instruction to ensure a better understanding of each student's learning capabilities and to help them overcome any learning deficiencies that may prevent the youth from reaching higher competency levels.

The tutor/teachers evaluate the students, and the LSY Learning Development Coordinator administers a student survey to determine the best activities. Students are evaluated by the Program Coordinator on a regular basis. That evaluation information is provided to the Events Coordinator to determine, plan, and implement some type of recognition of achievement.Educational field trips and participation in other cultural enhancement activities with mentors and the 4-H club, serve as incentives.

LSY’s staff includes 2 directors, 5 tutors, 5 mentors, 5 life skills coaches, 1 nurse/nutritionist, 1 administrative assistant. Twenty staff members volunteer their services. Each member has a genuine love for children and a passion for community service. Staff qualifications and experience range from teachers who are certified with the Arkansas Board of Education, practicing juvenile lawyers, graduates of master degree programs, college graduates, social workers, and teen peers.  All of the staff and volunteers have many years of extensive experience promoting positive youth development. All staff members submit to an annual background check. Criminal background checks and Maltreatment Registry forms are processed through DHS. The criminal background check results are maintained at DHS and onsite at the Life Skills for Youth, Inc. facility.
