Life Skills
LSY provides skills that the youth will use in every day life. They are supported with encouragement as they learn how to make smart decisions. These skills are broken into three categories. 1) Educational: this focuses on overall academic achievement by teaching strategic thinking principles and computer skills. 2) Personal Development: confident direction is given to youth to help them say “no” to addictive behavior such as drug use and gang interaction. 3) Career Development: youth are given every opportunity to excel as they are taught the skills needed to become a successful workplace candidate.

Health & Physical Fitness
LSY will guide youth into a healthy lifestyle by providing them with access to information and medical professionals that will help the youth live long and healthy lives. By using established relationships with health-oriented organizations, the youth are educated about the importance of healthy living and physical fitness and also the pitfalls of risky health behaviors. Daily nutritional snacks are provided for the youth to reemphasize the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.

Community Service
Youth will learn to share in the responsibility of living in a community in order to give them a sense of pride for the community in which they live. By participating in community activities they will learn what it means to be a part of a healthy community and they will also be taught the importance of helping others in the community. These activities introduce youth to ways they can make an impact on their little corner of the world. Some of these activities will work in conjunction with other activities provided by LSY.

Cultural Enhancement Activities
LSY offers this component to teach youth the importance of cultures through art and history, Various enrichment components include opportunities to experience different forms of dance, musicals, symphonies, theater, art shows, and museums. This is an important component in that it allows the youth to see the world outside of their community, and will help them gain an appreciation for the various cultures that thrive in America, and around the world.

ATM
The management of anger, time, and money. These classes will consist of practical methods to help youth to function as a positive contributor in the workplace and community. Conflict in life and work has made an impact on corporate life, and has also destroyed homes. With these skills in place, youth will be able to secure a good life for themselves and their families. Each of these areas represent a major portion of life skills and by developing positive behavioral patterns youth are given a chance to change their lives in a positive manner.

Educational Emphasis
Life Skills for Youth offers professional tutoring classes 4 days out of the week. The emphasis is placed on individual’s needs thereby helping each youth to become aware of their potential. Education does not have to be a barrier. We, at Life Skills for Youth, are determined to demonstrate how education is the first step to becoming all that they can be.

By offering the above services to the youth of our community we hope to deter harmful behavioral patterns, give support and technical assistance as needed, to assist youth, families, and the community in successfully coping with problems and challenges that may arise due to offering these resources within their neighborhoods. LSY also desires to provide access to youth prevention components during the day, evening, after school, and during the summer.
